Thursday and Friday

Full few days of running ALL over the place this long weekend!

Thursday started as an earlier day than normal with his sister having an appointment to draw blood.  Eli isn't a morning person!   He didn't appreciate the morning wake up, but after we had that taken care of we headed to drop off his books at the UPS store and have some documents notarized so we can apply for his scholarship ASAP!

Then we headed to his eye doctor appointment.  In the car he played his prodigy math game- so at least 45 minutes worth of Math.  When we arrived at the office we spent time going through a first grade workbook we had at home with all sorts of first grade skills.  We purposely want to go over all the basics again as many of them he doesn't know.  However, we don't want to stop doing the advanced things either.  We're trying to keep a balance.

From here, we headed to Disney World for the expo for the Princess Marathon Weekend Races.  Eli worked on patience (or I did) while waiting in lines!
After we checked into our hotel, we actually headed home for dinner and then to his sister's choral performance, where Eli did a few more workbook pages while waiting.

Friday we got up very, very early to run a 5K!

Eli did an excellent job!  He ran much further than I ever expected!

We got back to our hotel and took warm showers (we were having chilly winds and rain this morning!)  I took a nap, but his sister caught him working on his workbook again without being asked!

We went and played in the hotel's community room.  Eli and I played Don't Break the Ice for awhile, then he made a few new friends and played with them, and then did a cross word puzzle.
Next we had to leave to run some errands and Eli crashed and burned and slept for a good hour in the car like this!

The next traveling spot we took, he did his Math game some more.  But after we got to the hotel, I looked up in some of my homeschool groups games recommended so I downloaded a few.

So we're trying these out over the next few days and see what happens.  Apps are a double edged sword- he'll do it alone with no complaints but I really don't want his face in a device 24/7.  We'll be working on that balance.

He's currently working on the Homer Reading app.  He's enjoying it.  We'll see where that goes!
