Crazy crazy

So I don't have the brain power to be witty today.  Lots of work and coronavirus moods. 

So I'm going to just post a bunch of pictures because he has been working the last three days including a trip to the library and a wildlife learning event.

Our week in Review

Life is weird right now.  Very weird.  But the show goes on for us every day.  It's spring break for the county school, but unschoolers never have a break because we realize learning happens all the time.  Cooking things- science and math Family game night- problem solving/mazes and spelling with scrabble.  Not to mention math with scrabble points.  We got some 1st grade workbooks for review- didn't make it home before he started working on them.  Play at the park Workbook again Puzzle time- it was a map! He noticed some states and read their names.  Back to the workbook- he got 3 done in the space of 5 days without being asked to do any of it.  Matching games with colors and numbers Workbook just because.  The game of life- money, counting, reading.  Workbook again. Thursday and Friday

Full few days of running ALL over the place this long weekend! Thursday started as an earlier day than normal with his sister having an appointment to draw blood.  Eli isn't a morning person!   He didn't appreciate the morning wake up, but after we had that taken care of we headed to drop off his books at the UPS store and have some documents notarized so we can apply for his scholarship ASAP!  Then we headed to his eye doctor appointment.  In the car he played his prodigy math game- so at least 45 minutes worth of Math.  When we arrived at the office we spent time going through a first grade workbook we had at home with all sorts of first grade skills.  We purposely want to go over all the basics again as many of them he doesn't know.  However, we don't want to stop doing the advanced things either.  We're trying to keep a balance. First grade finished!

We finally finished up the first grade work we had set aside today!    I've decided we've mostly mastered all the math concepts as he was able to do those independently. Weak areas in Literature include punctuation, verb tense, preposition use, and pronouns.  Things that are mostly understood but need a little more practice is capital letters, opposites, and possessive nouns. I've got a bunch of second grade resources flagged and printed and ready to go! We also did some science this week which I integrated a youtube video to listen/learn the order of the planets to complete a worksheet. That was a huge hit being on youtube!
